All that...and then some

So, random thought at almost-lunchtime on a Monday: airport security. That's right..I'm talking about airport securitaaaay.

Maybe it's not as apparent to people like me-aka, those born in the late 80s-but DANG, security is a whole other affair when we get to the airport. Of course, there's good reason but have you ever really thought about what we go through every time we travel commercial? Well, here's a rundown in case you've forgotten or haven't traveled in the last decade:

1. Take those shoes off buddy...and dont even think about walking through with that coat.

"It Never Is" from Row 22, Seats A&B

After being stranded in Chicago O’Hare for 7 hours, I was glad to find some consolation from a Row 22, Seats A&B two-part story by Frederick Waterman in United’s Hemispheres in-flight magazine. Perhaps the most comforting part about departing to Atlanta at 5am was that the fictional characters in the story were also on a dawn flight from Las Vegas, after a long night out.

Here’s an excerpt from It Never Is - a story about a salesman and a priest sitting in row 22, trading tales of cards, faith, bargains, and women…

James Boyd - VP of Singapore Airlines’ public relations for the Americas - described the importance of In-flight Entertainment (IFE) in IEEE's (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) September issue :

" For many carriers, IFEs are a nice add-on or a nice frill; for us, they’re absolutely essential. On those flights, IFE is as important as food, which is keeping passengers satisfied.

Did you leave anything on the plane? Like maybe an iPod, maybe a wallet or perhaps a gold medal?

That is how Casey Taylor began the Facebook message she sent to Olympic swimmer Brendan Hansen on Monday, Sept. 15.

Peachtree DeKalb Airport (KPDK)

Paulos's picture

Peachtree DeKalb Airport (KPDK) is a general aviation airport in DeKalb County, GA that handles a number of FBOs and is home to flight school's such as American Air, Atlanta Flyers, and DeKalb Flight School. Under the supervision of JR Richardson at American Air Flight School, I got a glimpse of the process of establishing a career in professional piloting. As an assistant to the main flight dispatcher at AAFT, I saw the daily operations of a very non-typical flight school that handles serious prospective pilots.

Rollercoaster or Plane ride. Peace with my fate.

I travel a lot. I have flown more times than I can remember, but today was different. Today was the first time…

Now I don’t know if I should thank my mother for my over active senses or if I should blame it on having four teeth pulled and being drugged up for a few days now.

Either way when I stepped onto that plane today I was not completely at peace with the situation. I just felt strange about this particular flight but I brushed it off and told myself it was me not reacting so well to the meds they gave me for my teeth.

US Airways charging for all drinks and snacks

You'd think that you've heard it all when airlines started charging $50 for checking in a second bag. But how does paying for water sound?

NY-LON to Metrotwin

Paulos's picture

BA recently re-launched "metrotwin.com"
Metrotwin, as the webmasters describe it, is a blogging site targetted at the New York to London flyers, hence it's former and disputed name NY-LON. NY-LON conflicted with Nylon Magazine's digital counterpart. Now metrotwin is trying to live up to its mission of providing one space for two cities . New users are accepted after invites only, but you may also invite yourself. I guess it's just metrotwin's way of making sure that all users have registered emails.
